How to make your own embroidered patch?

There has some kinds of ways to make patches. The below method just take the fewest extra materials. If you like, try to use other techniques at your will.

.Take up your transfer paper, then cut out the pattern roughly you want to sew.The example design is the hummingbird from my tropical customise kit.

.Divide the interior and exterior embroidery hoops, and put your fabric over the interior hoop. Reseat the exterior hoop on top,as well as retighten the screw, ensure your fabric is nice and taut.

.Strip the glossy paper from the back of the transfer paper, come next, attach the sticky transfer piece to the front of the fabric.Pls make sure all the transfer is stuck down smoothly.

.Begin stitching!Around the edge of the pattern, you could use Back Stitch-this will help stop the edges of patch from fraying,if your fabric might be easy to fray(and if it look pretty in your thinking). Ensure again your ends are tied up,so they don’t come undone when you wear or use them.

.After sewing finished, take your fabric down from the hoop. Transfer paper will keep the stiff of fabric also prevent the backing fabric over fray.So you can cut around your embroidered pattern about 0.5-1cm from your stitching.

.For next step, remove the transfer paper.Rinse the fabric under a lukewarm faucet. You will see the transfer begin to break up and fall away soon.In order to break up the paper, pls gently agitate your fabric,in the meantime, use your finger(or the blunt end of a needle)to brush the stitching so that clear all leftover residue.

.Leave the patch to dry,or you could use a hairdryer to speed up drying.

.After drying, pick up the clothing you would like to attach the patch to.Put it on a flat surface, and confirm the position you want the patch to.

.Use some very thick Running Stitches to pin the patch into suitable position. These stitches can go through your embroidery so you will take them off later.

.Using the color of thread you chosen, sew around the edges of the patch use Whipped Stitch.Private opinions,I like to do the stitches in a contrasting color. To keep the patch firmly in place, pls try to keep them quite close together.

.At last, delete your Running Stitches-all completed! Now show off your nice new patch!
